Miles and Rhiannon’s heartfelt bohemian wedding is a celebration of their love and loved ones, taking place on an incredible private property complete with sweeping views and magical pine forest! Look forward to pretty DIY details and romantic moments alongside a vibrant palette of dusty pink, merlot and gold.
Our Story
“We knew right from the start that we wanted an intimate and meaningful wedding day. We lost our son Leo and it was very important to us to have his memory kept alive on the day in subtle and graceful ways. We achieved this by including Leo in our vows, having cuttings and gumnuts from his memoriam gum tree in my bouquet and Miles’ boutonniere, and having a little lion toy on the pew between our parents.”
Personalising The Day
“Our wedding day reflected the love we have for each other and our little family, in a way that was so intimate and special for us. We tried to steer clear of all things traditional, and our celebrant accommodated our wishes to make our ceremony as unique as possible. The day from beginning to end was chilled out, and emotional in happy ways and in sad – it was just a great party.”
Finding The Dress
“I had followed Grace Loves Lace right from the start and knew instantly that when it was time for me to be a bride, I’d wear one of their designs. I took my mum, grandma, sister, and dad to the dress shop, tried on four dresses and surprise, surprise – I chose the one I’d admired for so long! The family agreed – it was comfortable and dainty, and very much suited the farm surroundings.”
Favourite Moments
“Walking down the aisle with my Dad, we held hands and cried happy tears. Laughing and giggling with Miles during our ceremony. Taking photos with Emily Stone in a magical pine forest – this was our time to take in the day and spend time alone with each other. We were pretty smitten in those moments! And last but not least, dancing under the stars with family and friends.”
Bridal Party Style
“My three little sisters were my bridesmaids, and Miles’ brother was best man. I decided to keep the bridesmaids understated in accessories, as their dress was detailed enough, with lace cap sleeves which tied in beautifully with my dress. I let them wear whatever nude coloured shoes they felt comfortable in, and they wore rose gold pearl stud earrings and flowers in their hair.
The best man wore a navy suit quite similar to the groom’s – with a floral patterned dress shirt and bow tie to match. Both wore distressed tan leather shoes.”
Entertainment
“We had Bradley Stone, a singer from Byron Bay perform throughout the day. He has the most angelic voice and left us all speechless with his talent. The picturesque surroundings, good company and Bradley’s voice were enough to entertain for hours. When planning this part of the wedding I just felt that less is more.”
DIY Projects
“I collected brass vessels and candlesticks for our centrepieces. Miles and his father made the timber trestle tables and wedding arbour. They also made a rustic band stand and a fully functioning outdoor ‘dunny’ which everyone loved! Miles’ sisters and mother did all the floral and brass styling, with deep purples, reds, pinks, and white florals for the tables.
I bought beautiful linen-like material for table runners and napkins which Miles’ mother made – they turned out a treat. Our brother in law strung all our party lights and Miles’ sisters made sugar cookies which were our favours – they were packaged with our thank you note just perfectly. Our wedding was a collaborative effort by loved ones to make the day happen. We can look back at every detail and be thankful and appreciative of the love put in.”
Flower Recipe
Australian native gum leaves, David Austin roses, Lisianthus, Geraldton wax, carnations and Dusty Miller.
Best Advice
“Make sure your day reflects you both and don’t get carried away in trying to make it enjoyable for your guests. I’d also advise to put aside a few moments alone with your husband to just absorb the day together.”
