It was a truly magic moment when Josh used some sleight of hand to propose to Rebecca with a card trick over a beautiful three-course meal. Their modern wedding at the groom’s family winery features a romantic ceremony framed by pretty floral pillars, a bridal party in black tie and a spectacular marquee reception complete with live band that even got their 90 year old grandparents tearing up the dance floor!

Wedding Planning
“It was so fun, exciting and at times stressful planning it all! We were constantly brainstorming and coming up with things we could do to personalise our day and make it incredible. We love hosting, learning about different cultures and sharing experiences with our family and friends, so we wanted our wedding to reflect this. We also wanted to use local suppliers where possible and were so happy with all the vendors who executed it all perfectly!”

Personal Touches
“We had both our parents walk us down the aisle and Josh’s brother performed a reading in both Spanish and English. After speeches, we performed Yum Seng, which is a Chinese toast and chanting tradition at weddings.”

Entertainment
“One of my bridesmaids is an incredible singer, so during the signing of the wedding registry she sang Lady Gaga’s, ‘Is That Alright’. She brought the house down! A magician who inspired the proposal idea was hired to perform strolling magic during cocktail hour. And a five-piece band performed classic Italian and Spanish songs for the reception. They were incredible, the dance floor was mayhem!”

Family Food & Wine
“Josh’s parents created a limited edition wine for us, labelled ‘J&R’ which was such a special and thoughtful touch. All the wine was sourced from their winery and beef used for the main course was raised on their property. My father sourced and caught fresh oysters, tuna and kingfish used during cocktail hour for our oyster and sashimi station. We also had traditional Spanish tapas made by Josh’s family restaurant.”

Best Advice
1. Assume you’ll spend 20% more than you’ve budgeted and spend on creating the right vibe.
2. Make time for the two of you to embrace the moment.
3. Wear comfy heels so you can dance!
