If you love the idea of a bit of sparkle on your wedding day, Emily and Joash’s rustic coastal celebration is well worth a look! From Emily’s romantic embellished gown to their fairy light-draped reception, these two created a magical day to enjoy with their guests. Oh, and we loved Joash’s fun twist on musical chairs at the reception. Intrigued? Read on!
Proposal Story
“Joash took me on a surprise picnic date. I love beautiful views, sunsets and picnics, so it was only natural that he chose all three things when he proposed to me. We had a lovely dinner before he brought out a photo book he had made and a letter. Then he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him – I was ecstatic!”
Most Important
“The two most important things to us were a sense of community and no stress. We wanted our day to not only be special for us, but also memorable for the people who were a part of our wedding. We didn’t want to have a stressful time whilst planning or on the day, so we ensured we were quite organised throughout it all. Joash played a very active role, which definitely helped me!”
Finding the Dress
“I actually found my dress online through a previous owner. My mum had been searching online and stumbled across a beautiful design. We made a day of it and went to visit. When I tried it on and after seeing Mum’s reaction and subsequently, mine, I knew it was the one.”
Entertaining Guests
“We decided to do our first dance straight after we returned from our photos – it made the night flow so much easier. Joash had a brilliant idea to play a bit of a game during our reception to involve everyone. When a particular song started playing, guests had to move to a different chair and meet someone they had never talked to. We were thrilled with how well it worked out, and it was so great to see how everyone was getting on with each other.”
Best Advice
1. Do it your own way. You don’t have to stick to what society tells you your wedding should look like. Make it unique to you.
2. Don’t stress about it. There’s no point! A lot of things will be out of your control, like the weather, so just enjoy your day. The ultimate objective is to wed the one you love, everything else doesn’t matter.
3. Be organised! This saved me so much stress. Buy a binder to keep everything in one place including receipts and invoices.
