After a surprise proposal atop the Brisbane Wheel, Cherie and Ben put together plans for their lovely country wedding on the bride’s family property. We’re swooning over the stylish bridal party in royal blue, mixed bouquets bursting with colour and Cherie’s divine wedding dress with its pretty draped sleeve. Oh, and who wouldn’t want to party beneath a canopy of fairy lights at a relaxed outdoor reception!
The Planning Experience
“Wedding planning was so much fun! Neither of us got stressed and we made decisions together very quickly. My favourite part was painting the signs we had up around the reception and bar. Also, setting up the thousands of fairy lights with my Dad was very special – seeing them all turned on was a lovely moment.”
Finding the Dress
“When I found the dress I knew it was the one – I had it personalised and altered, and the boutique spent the time to make sure I felt comfortable and beautiful in this dress. It was a little over budget, but I’m so happy that I got the one I loved.”
Most Important
“There were only a few things we were definite on and willing to pay extra for – the photographer and the dress. We wanted to make sure we had plenty of time with our guests, which meant we did a first look photo shoot before the ceremony and limited the number and length of the speeches. Wouldn’t have changed a thing!”
Meaningful Music
Processional: ‘How Long Will I Love You’ by Ellie Goulding
Register signing: ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ by Haley Reinhart
First dance: ‘Thinking Out Loud’ by Ed Sheeran
The Reception
“The reception featured hay bales for seating which were placed around cable reels and simply decorated with navy doilies and fresh flowers in jars. We wanted the lighting to be the main feature so there was over 200m of fairy lights hung above the reception area – it was truly magical. The dance floor was a timber deck overlooking the creek, which was very busy throughout the evening! We just played music through an iPod.”
