Most Important

“Besides the actual process of getting married, the most important thing was that the day was relaxed and a true reflection of us and our relationship, and that all our guests had a fantastic time. Whilst we of course wanted to get married in a beautiful setting, styling and theming were not high on our priority list and as a result, we kept the details quite simple.”

Bridesmaid Style

“My beautiful sister was seven months pregnant at the time of the wedding, and whilst it’s incredibly special that our nephew was technically ‘there’ on the day, the difficulty was that when looking for dresses, we had no idea how large her bump would be! Our solution was to have the dresses made to measure, with my sister’s dress slightly altered to have a higher waistline to allow for a growing bump.”

The Ceremony

“We had two large wine barrels either side of us, with beautiful vases of flowers atop. The flowers for the day were a combination of whites, greens, peaches and pink, with some berries throughout. We also had some beautiful candle lanterns with floral accents lining the aisle of white chairs.

I would say reflecting on our relationship and writing the various elements of our ceremony was the most enjoyable part of our planning – it’s not often you take time to stop and reflect on how lucky you are.”

Entertaining Guests

“We had a solo acoustic guitarist/vocalist playing as guests arrived for the ceremony, who also played our wedding songs throughout, including during canapes and drinks. During the reception, we had a live band who were absolutely fantastic. They read the crowd perfectly, and once the formalities were over, the dance floor was full for the night! We also arranged a photo booth, which was a popular addition.”

A Special Favour

“In lieu of bonbonniere, we made a donation to ‘Make A Wish’ on behalf of our guests, and provided everybody with a ‘Sharing Joy’ ribbon pin as a gift.”

Favourite Moments

“It’s difficult to pin point a few! Really, it all began with a beautiful day getting ready with family and our closest friends, but some of our favourite moments were definitely the laughter in our ceremony; the moment we were actually officially married and all of the speeches – we were blown away by the time that had been taken to prepare such beautiful speeches. Also, the moment Ollie and I shared during the reception, just taking it all in and the dance floor at the end of the night. It was all truly magical!”

Best Advice

1. Find some time during the reception just the two of you, take it all in and just enjoy the moment.

2. Don’t sweat the small stuff. The important things on the day are the process of getting married, family, friends and having a great time.

3. Trust your suppliers – they do this all the time!
