Five years after being drawn to Ben’s “sense of humour, love of his mates and gorgeous blonde hair,” Imogen said “Yes!” to planning an elegant waterside wedding and life together. Their lovely day features a modern palette of navy and grey, stunning bouquets and rustic dining beneath a crystal chandelier.
Planning Experience
“I’m a perfectionist, so planning was tricky! I found having a list and timeline very helpful in organising what needed to be done when. Don’t be afraid to delegate research! You can make the final decisions, but do let your loved ones help.”
Finding The Dress
“I actually ended up with a completely different dress to what I thought I wanted. So make sure you keep an open mind and try on lots of different things, because who knows what you’ll choose!”
Favourite Moments
“My favourite moment was when I finally reached Ben at the end of the aisle and he whispered, ‘What do I do with the veil?!’ Also when we were pronounced man and wife and walked out of the church together. Ben’s favourite was seeing me appear at the end of the aisle and the moment we left the reception!”
Bridal Party Styling
“I scoured the shops looking for a natural, grey bridesmaid dress but couldn’t find anything! So I had dresses made with lace and flowy material, with classic, beautiful hair and makeup to go with it.”
Reception Styling
“We really wanted our wedding to have a natural and elegant feel, so we incorporated lots of neutrals colours into our theme. My favourite part was the floral and foliage table runners, candles and hanging lights, which helped to create a beautiful and romantic atmosphere in our reception space for our guests to enjoy!”
DIY Projects
“We created a Polaroid photo area, for our guests to leave us messages and photos to remember from the night. Most of the other aspects I had help with, but I had a hand in designing and shaping every aspect – I find it a bit hard to let go sometimes!”
Entertaining Guests
“We chose to have a live band at our wedding which was so great! It really adds to the atmosphere both during dinner and dancing as well – just so much fun. We would definitely recommend a band!”
Best Advice
“Remember that is it about the marriage, not just the wedding, and include your groom – they have some great ideas!”
