You could say creativity is in their DNA at Decorations by Jelena, with this talented family team in Sydney offering wedding styling, hire and floral design from the Hunter Valley to the Illawarra. They love researching the latest trends and dreaming up original ideas for their couples, creating many of their own props to deliver standout celebrations.
What’s something you’d love every couple to know about wedding styling and flowers?
That a lot of work behind the scenes isn’t necessarily accounted for. We try to stay on the forefront of trends and incorporate fresh ideas into our events, spending hours sourcing items and scoping Pinterest to achieve the best look for our clients. All of this is part of the creative process and not really something you can put a time or dollar amount to.
What’s something couples are surprised to learn about what you do?
That we build and create a lot of our own props in house – most stylists and florists could easily be called tradie ladies! If there was a points-based system for hardware stores, it would be very popular.
What do your couples say they love most about what you do?
The thing that keeps hitting home when we get feedback from our couples is that our service is outstanding. We really do believe in great customer service, with a focus on attention to detail that goes above and beyond.
How do you create a great experience for your couples?
We’re just as involved in the process as they are, so they know we have their best interests at heart. This coupled with transparency on our end helps build trust – once that trust is there, the experience is second to none.
What’s your best advice for couples planning their wedding styling and flowers?
1. Look for vendors that align with your style and not just your budget – you will get much better value for your money and time.
2. Be clear about your budget and expectations – no one is very good at guessing games! If you’re upfront with a figure you would like to spend on styling and florals, and then turn up with an image that isn’t attainable at that price point, the process of finding the sweet spot in the middle will be a lot smoother.
3. Be flexible. Not all flowers are available all year and not all budgets suit all styling ideas. If there is a compromise to be made, listen to your supplier as to where you can get the best value for money. Remember, we only want the best wedding for you!
