What should couples keep in mind when choosing their wedding photographer?
Find a photographer you connect with. Someone who holds the same values, who you find easy to talk to and of course, whose photos you love. After all, you’ll be spending your whole wedding day with them!
What would you love every couple to know?
How much we’re moving and mingling through your wedding day. It’s not as simple as standing in the corner and snapping away, we need to be in the thick of it! On the dance floor with the guests, outside having a quiet moment with your grandparents and enjoying some bubbles and cake with you.
What are couples surprised to learn about what you do?
That I’m not all up in their grill and pulling them away from their guests at every possible moment. I’m there to support them, make it as relaxed as possible and capture the memories they will treasure for a lifetime.
What’s the biggest mistake couples can make when planning this part of their wedding?
Rushing into a decision and not asking lots of questions.
What’s one popular question you get?
“We don’t like really posed photos, how do you work?” That’s okay, I’m not a massive fan either. Although I will do a couple of semi-posed photos, I don’t do a lot and you definitely won’t need to hold any uncomfortable positions. I’ll just be third wheeling while you two enjoy a little afternoon date.
How do you create a great experience for your couples?
By being relaxed and a fly on the wall. If I’m uptight, my couples will pick up on that and become nervous themselves. This way I can capture all those real moments, genuine tears and hysterical laughter.
What three pieces of advice do you have for our couples?
1. Timelines are key on the day but make sure there’s enough time in between each event. It’s better to be early to the next part of the day instead of running around like a chicken because you’re late!
2. If you have any special moments planned for your day, don’t forget to tell the people who need to capture or help create them. Include the details in your timeline and any notes you’re sending your suppliers.
3. Relax and have fun. It’s your day and you’ve spent so long planning it so take a deep breath and just enjoy the moments that are happening because of you two!
