Seeing Bek’s love of flowers in this colourful coastal wedding, it makes perfect sense that Heath spelled out the words of his surprise proposal with roses! Keeping formalities short, this relaxed couple left the exquisite details to the professionals and focused on celebrating with their guests, including time for a romantic sunset stroll to reflect on their day and anticipate the party still to come!
The Planning Experience
“Was very relaxed actually. A lot of the suppliers I went with came highly recommended from friends and family and I had seen their work previously, so I basically knew what I wanted. I loved searching through Pinterest for different ideas and wedding dress shopping – it’s such a different feeling trying on dresses that you would never wear unless you were getting married. My least favourite experience was finalising the guest list. We would have loved to invite so many more people.”
Ceremony Styling
“Pepper Sprout Hire Company have the most amazing styling options. I picked a few items for the ceremony and then left it up to Sarah to set up and style – she is the expert after all.”
Entertaining Guests
“Kelsey Browne is a good friend of mine and sang at the ceremony with band member Sam Waley. It meant a lot having a friend of mine sing me down the aisle. For the reception we had Good Faces 4 Radio play. They were great! They had every single guest up dancing the night away.”
Finding ‘The One’
“I loved looking for my wedding dress and it only took me a few hours to find. I remember saying to my mum and bridesmaids that I didn’t want a tight fitting mermaid style dress and I didn’t want a veil…I came back with both of those! I thought it wouldn’t suit me and only tried it on because my mum and bridesmaids wanted me to try every style. I’m so glad they did because the looks on their faces when I came out in it made me feel really special and helped me realise it was ‘The One’.
Bridal Party Styling
“I let my bridesmaids choose what they wore. I was very open on colours and styles, as long as they went with the boys’ suits because Heath had already chosen those. We went into Zimmerman and the girls all selected a few dresses in different colours. One bridesmaid came out in a navy dress and the other in a plum coloured dress at the same time and they looked great. We all fell in love with both dresses so decided to take two of each.”
Reception Styling
“I wanted everything to be bright. We had guest book placemats in the same design as our invites with questions like, “What advice do you have for the bride and groom?” and “What is your favourite memory of us?”. The colours of the flowers mixed in perfectly. I was pretty relaxed with how everything was set up and left it to the staff at the venue – they did an amazing job.”
Most Important
“We wanted to make sure that all our guests had fun and were up on the dance floor, with all formalities completed early so they could enjoy themselves. We’re a laid back couple – we wanted the day to be stress free so made sure we surrounded ourselves with great suppliers who took the pressure off.”
Best Advice
1. Give yourself plenty of time to plan to take away any stress. Start paying everything off from the time you book. It makes your day more enjoyable knowing that everything is paid for and looked after.
2. Spare a moment at the ceremony to take in all of your guests and the looks on their faces. It’s a very meaningful moment looking at all those who are there for you.
3. Just go with the flow and let everything happen. Don’t get caught up in the small stuff.
