We love seeing couples combine tradition and personal style to create their own unique celebration. Though playfully described by Stella as a “Big Fat Greek Wedding”, her classic estate wedding to Simon is a lovely blend of old and new, featuring a soft pink and cream palette, stunning beaded gown and lush florals to match.
“To be honest, I really threw myself into it. My teaching side came out, and I spent most week nights planning and researching vendors and inspirational ideas. Weekends were spent with appointments and shopping. I couldn’t have done the planning without Simon. He was great to bounce ideas off and helped me put things in perspective. I really loved planning a wedding – it was great to get excited and not only plan a day for us, but for all our family and friends as well.”
Ceremony & Reception Styling
“Choosing Saint Dimitrious Church and Glen Ewin Estate gave us the freedom to have a balance of Greek tradition and culture for the ceremony, and country elegance for the reception. I give a lot of credit to Bethany from Viva the Flower Store for my reception wow factor – the floral backdrop behind the bridal table was simply breathtaking.”
Creating The Dress
“When I met with Red Pearl Couture I knew straight away that we could work together to create my perfect dress. It was a great experience to see it being made over so many months. I had the peace of mind that if I didn’t feel comfortable with any part of the dress, they were willing to change it.”
“Before the ceremony, we each spent time with our extended families and bridal party, having a drink and something to eat before the busy day started. During the day, we encouraged our guests to mingle by providing an acoustic band, ‘Little Big Words’ to perform during pre-dinner drinks. DJ Stelio was a fantastic DJ and MC. With his years of experience, he knew how to work a crowd and keep the reception schedule on track.”
“So many amazing moments! Mine was when I was leaving my parents’ house for the church ceremony. It was really symbolic, leaving my childhood home with my parents in the wedding car as I started the new chapter of my life. I also remember sitting at the bridal table, seeing our family and friends and all my hard work and feeling so satisfied. It was so worth it!”
1. Research – email and call as many vendors as you can to find the best ones for your style of wedding and budget. Make sure you feel comfortable enough to not only voice your questions and concerns, but to share your day with them!
2. Time management – it’s overwhelming planning a wedding. Break big tasks into smaller achievable ones.
3. TLC – Take time out for yourself. Planning a wedding and a future can and will steamroll your normal life – it’s okay to not do wedding things for a week or two.
