Lia and Joe knew they were meant for each other when a coffee date turned into four hours together – and they felt like they’d known each other forever! The bride and groom set the stylish tone for their timeless wedding, with Joe debonair in black tie, and Lia in her gorgeous custom gown and Valentino heels. And we absolutely love the pop of colour of their pretty-in-pink bridesmaids!
The Planning Experience
“I love wedding planning. I’m a marketing coordinator so I naturally took control and started planning from the get go. I found it really fun and exciting!”
Ceremony Styling
“Our ceremony was in a beautiful church. We had white roses on the pews and at the altar – it didn’t require too much attention to look nice.”
Finding the Dress
“I had my dress custom made. I gave my designer three images and told him the sections on each that I loved. He created a dress which incorporated the elements that I really wanted (long sleeve, low back, detachable train) and I loved it!”
Entertaining Guests
“Our reception followed straight after the ceremony, so we had canapes and drinks out the front of the venue as the sun was shining! Guests were then able to go inside to the reception at 6pm where we had a DJ.”
Bridesmaid Styling
“I saw a photo of Rebecca Judd wearing a dress on her Instagram and hunted it down to buy it for my maids! It was sold out for a while so I had to contact the supplier directly, who luckily shipped to Australia! I wanted the girls to look bright and fresh, and wanted a look that wouldn’t date over time so my photos always look modern.”
Reception Styling
“We wanted the reception to look all white and magical, with a starlight dancefloor, rose centrepieces on every table and white drapes and table linen. We just wanted a white classical wedding!”
Meaningful Music
“We love Coldplay and quite often listen to their songs when driving long distances, so we had our wedding dance to ‘A Sky Full of Stars’. Joe and I really love to dance, so we played a lot of 90’s music which had everyone up and dancing once main meal was served!”
Favourite Moments
“We loved entering the room to see everyone! And we especially loved the speeches – everyone who spoke put so much effort in and there were so many tears in the room. I quite often watch the speeches over again on our wedding video.”

2. Use a spreadsheet to try and stick to a budget – it also helps with remembering to book and pay for everything.
3. Spend time with your partner! The day goes so fast, and you want to be able to see each other and debrief as it is such a special experience.
