After proposing at the very spot where they would walk down the aisle, James and Jacqueline whipped up a spreadsheet and meticulously planned the details of their wedding day – featuring romantic burgundy blooms and chic rustic style!
The Planning Experience
“It was like a roller coaster. We had incredible vendors who gave us great advice and tips, but things can be very stressful. We’re both a tad OCD – James works in risk management so by nature he loves to analyse!”
Ceremony Styling
“We tried to bring a romantic, rustic feel to Australia’s iconic landmark, the Opera Point Marquee. It lies beneath the Opera House looking towards the Sydney Harbor Bridge – simply a million dollar view! We exchanged vows under a steel arch decorated with greenery and flowers, with little jars of flowers lining the aisle.”
Bridal Party Styling
With the groomsmen looking sharp in navy, Jacqueline’s bridesmaids wore romantic dusty pink dresses with nude heels and an elegant wrap to counter the winter chill!
Reception Styling
“We wanted round tables with three varied centerpieces – all had book table numbers and scattered candles to tie it together. We had gold candle holders of differing heights and little jars holding posies, flowers cascading down a steel rustic cake stand and my favourite – flowers covered in a cloche and sitting on top of a timber slice, like Beauty and the Beast!”
The Cake
“We had a semi-naked cake with four different flavours – red velvet as the base, white chocolate ganache, passionfruit and vanilla.”
Best Advice
1. Get to know and meet vendors to ensure it’s a personal experience.
2. Ensure that you know each vendor’s products and services in detail and jot them on a spreadsheet, with a tab for each item – it’s really effective.
3. Remember it’s your day and don’t do it for others… follow your heart!
