Leah and Callum’s artistic warehouse wedding proves there are no rules when it comes to designing your day. These two musical, art-mad lovebirds combined a berry and navy palette with pop art, a unique bowtie bar and gelato cart – all with impeccable style!
The Planning
“After seven years of dating and many Pinterest wedding boards, we knew we wanted a speedy engagement. We loved the whole experience and that we could experiment with our creative sides. Callum is a musician so took charge of all the musical aspects and I love everything art and knew I wanted to be married amongst it. When we heard this art gallery was available, we locked it in without a second glance. Our reception venue was perfect for its relaxed atmosphere, open courtyard and warehouse vibe. We couldn’t be more ecstatic with how it all turned out!”
Finding the Dress
“After a lot of research, I came to the conclusion that all the dresses I loved were the complete opposite of each other! I guess all I knew was that I wanted something a little bit different. My experience at the boutique was so pleasant – the ladies certainly knew their gowns. I was given a dress to try that I actually thought was not for me. Boy was I wrong! My gown fit me in all the right places…the shape was beautifully put together with an embossed, corded lace with silk buttons running down the low back.”
Ceremony Styling
“We sourced specific pieces from vendors and took on the stylist role for the day. We loved that our wedding became a collection of many beautiful pieces from around Perth. Leah from the gallery and Holly from Sanford Events managed our ceremony beautifully. Art can make such a statement in itself, so we’d envisioned a minimalistic look, with clear ghost chairs to draw attention to the floral arbour and art as the focal points. We had asked for lots of greenery in keeping with the berry tones from the rest of the wedding – we were absolutely stoked when we saw that the artwork was all vibrant, out there and Johnny Romeo.”
Bridal Party Look
“My gorgeous girls wore a burgundy Shona Joy number each in a different style to suit what they were most comfortable in, paired with a bold burgundy lip. They looked absolutely stunning!”
Reception Styling
“Our reception took place at Perth City Farm, in amongst the gardens, graffiti art and warehouse walls. We had long tables with flowing garlands of greenery and florals, and overhead hanging pendants, open globes and copper caged lighting. We added ornate carpets and wooden furniture for warmth and topped each gold or silver charger with a taste of rosemary from the back garden of our new little home. We made sure there was lots of seating and space to relax with a gelato in hand, listening to the tunes of our talented live band.”
DIY Projects
“For the reception we sourced, spray painted and hung all the gold and silver frames. This was quite the process, taking longer than we expected! We also had great fun doing some painting and creating our own signature ‘Calleah’ art to showcase on the walls there. Mum and I put together the seating plan and my sister and I also made bottled jam as favours. We wanted a Bow Tie Bar and needed something to display them upright in, so Callum’s dad rigged up a great shelving system.”
Favourite Moments
“Finally being married was awesome – walking out of our ceremony hand in hand knowing that we were Mr and Mrs was something special. We loved our reception vibe, the speeches, the gelato van, our delicious food and of course all the dancing! We loved that we could spend the day with all the people that meant the world to us.”
