We love it when a girl is as comfortable rocking Badgley Mischka heels as she is gumboots! Ang and Geoff planned their rustic Australian bush wedding the same way they plan on spending the rest of their lives – by working together as a team. Just wait until you see the incredibly romantic ceremony backdrop this handy groom built!
The Planning Experience
“We worked as a team and everything came together exactly as we planned it. In the lead up to the wedding day it was torrential rain for days. We had tarps over the lawn and spent day and night sweeping water out of the marquee. We woke up on the wedding day to sunshine – it was a blessing and our day was perfect.”
“We were married at home. We wanted the ceremony to be relaxed and not traditional – we didn’t want it to drag on. Our rustic barn doors with the garland from our florist were absolutely perfect.”
Bridal Party Styling
“I had chosen the girls’ dresses around 12 months before the wedding and ordered them from various boutiques around Australia to get the right sizes. We wanted the boys to feel like themselves and be relaxed on the day, so they wore navy moleskins teamed with light blue shirts.”
Finding the Dress
“I searched and searched for the perfect dress and couldn’t find it. I showed the girls at Atelier Rose the back of one dress I loved and the bottom of another. With only around six weeks left till the wedding, they made my dress exactly how I imagined it. It was a very relaxed and gratifying experience.”
“You bought new shoes to mach your dress, and now your feet are quite a mess. But don’t sit down and admit defeat, kick off your heels and enjoy this treat!”
“The reception was also at home. We used vintage furniture teamed with rustic pieces. We hung lanterns and ferns in the marquee and spread candles everywhere throughout the reception – even in the trees. As it was the end of winter, we used fire baskets and provided plush blankets so everyone could be warmed by our love.”
“Geoff made almost everything at the wedding, from the rustic doors we got married in front of, to the signing table and even the blanket box.”
1. Communicate with your fiancé. Keep checking in with each other that things are going in the same direction.
2. Use a professional photographer. After your day is over the photographs are what you have to remember your day.
3. Relax, it’s your day. Remember it’s all about the both of you!
