Meeting at university, this lovely couple dated until a weekend away ended in a romantic letter from Ben, asking Sheree to marry him! Their chic rustic wedding is a beautiful combination of elegance and simplicity, including a stunning city ceremony backdrop and pretty florals in peach, lavender and burgundy, filling their day with gorgeous colour.
The Planning Experience
“It was surprisingly fun and easy. We talked a lot about what was important for us and just worked our way through our list of things to do. Ben and I are from Victoria and had only been in Perth for twelve months, so we initially found it difficult to choose suppliers and find locations. After talking to friends and spending time looking on Instagram, we finally found the perfect ones.”
Finding The Dress
“I tried on so many beautiful dresses, but found it difficult to narrow it down to just one. The shop assistant suggested I try this one dress on – which was completely different to what I had in mind -and when I did, I knew it was the one.”
“For us to make decisions together and to be on the same page in regards to budget, style and theme – communication was a big one for us.”
“Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Ben’s face, and having all of our closest friends and family together in one room. Also, having Ben’s cousin Kirsten as our celebrant. It was nice having a familiar face up there with us and it was her first wedding which made it extra special.”
“After our ceremony at the South Perth foreshore, our guests travelled by private ferry across the Swan River to the Barrack Street Jetty. While Ben and I were having our wedding photos taken, our guests enjoyed each other’s company while having a few drinks at ‘The Lucky Shag’. Ben and I both love Ed Sheeran, so I walked down the aisle to our favourite song, ‘Thinking Out Loud’.
“We left that in the hands of Sarah from Heart Strings and Pretty Things. She decorated our ceremony and reception so beautifully. It was elegant, relaxed and romantic, with a few rustic touches. We didn’t do any DIY, which is why I think we were so relaxed in the lead up and on the day.”

“Don’t sweat the small stuff. If something goes wrong, don’t let it ruin your day. You spend so much time, effort and money organising your wedding, so make sure you enjoy it!”
